How to cite this data
Everything published here is derived from official OGRA price notifications, which are public documents. You are free to reproduce the figures, the charts and the underlying dataset commercially, under CC BY 4.0, with attribution:
For print or broadcast, “OilPrices.pk, from OGRA notifications” is sufficient. If you are citing a specific historical rate, the dataset carries OGRA's own document id on every record, so any figure can be traced back to the notification it came from — useful if a number is later disputed.
What makes a fuel price story on deadline
Most coverage of a notification reports the new rate and the change. The part that is usually missing, and that readers ask about, is where the money goes. OGRA publishes a full component breakdown with every notification: the international benchmark, freight, customs duty, the inland freight equalisation margin, oil marketing company and dealer margins, then the petroleum levy and climate support levy.
The levies are the component set by the federal government rather than by the market, and they are frequently the single largest addition after the product itself — which makes “how much of a litre is tax” a straightforward and checkable story. The methodology page sets out the full buildup, and the forecast page shows the same formula applied to the next revision.
